Multi-racial relationships
For hundreds of years wars have been waged against nations of a different race and slavery flourished at the downfall of a people with a different skin colour.
When God created Adam and Eve,according to the Bible,he/she didn't specify the colour of their skin, the texture of their hair or the size of the lips, yet we have managed to divide one another and class each other according to the pigmentation of our skin and not as one human race.
Over the years the "new generation kids" have managed to breach the differences in race by entering into relationships with one another. These days an African child from the so called "ghetto" is able to attend school in the suburbs where he/she is exposed to an environment of mixed cultures and mixed races. Gone are the days where black students weren't allowed to be on the same foot ball team as other white students. Gone are the days where black and white students couldn't go to the same prom night and gone are the days where black and white people couldn't be on the same bus; or at least that's hw it is in some areas.
In the west certain jurisdictions had laws and regulations banning/prohibiting inter-racial marriages, especially in areas such as Germany during the Nazi era. ( en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interracial_marriage )
It was more of a similar situation in South Africa during the apartheid regime up until the release of Nelson Mandela.
Even though there a no laws preventing people of different races to cohabitate/inter-marry, it is still seen as desrespectful in certain cultural groups to date/marry someone who is not in the same racial group as you.
Most people don't support inter-racial marriages for various reasons. Wether those reason are valid is up to anyone to judge.
It is evident though that the biggest thing that would deter people from inter-marrying would be the fear of their culture/race disappearing and being replaced by a new race. This is proven by the so called "coloured" or mixed children, which are neither black or white. The term coloured refers to people of colour, but in South Africa it refers to a group of mixed individuals with different cultures and different racial backgrounds. This mixture of races has created a new culture on its own which is a combination of all major cultures and does not place unnecessary restrictions on its people.
It's about time that the rest of the world realises that it is not a sin for a Christian woman to get married to a Muslim man,the same way there is nothing wrong with a black man cohabitating with a white woman or any other woman of a different race to him.
At the end of the day what matters is how the two feel about one another and neither family, culture, friends or law should prevent two people who love one another from being in a relationship together.
The only way a multi-racial relationship would work is when there is respect for one another's culture and cultural beliefs, respect for one another as individuals, compromise because you won't see everything with the same eye, and understanding.
It's also up to the couple to find a way that makes their relationship work for them,to find a common ground and truelly LOVE one another.
